Mid-Rivers Fiber Build-Out Plan
The Enhanced A-CAM support program includes an historic 100% build-out obligation in our traditional rural service areas, with an aggressive deadline of December 31, 2028.

This graphic provides a general idea of the massive scope of this obligation, which is spread across 30,000 square miles of some of the most remote areas of Montana.

2025 Construction Plan

Mid-Rivers’ 2025 fiber construction plans include rural Plevna, Ekalaka West, and Richey, with a total estimated fiber investment of $16 million.

The 2025 rural Plevna project includes 289 miles of fiber to 196 locations, bringing fiber to all remaining underserved and unserved locations in the Plevna (772) telephone exchange area of Fallon County and far eastern Custer County.  Ekalaka West involves 248 miles of fiber construction to 170 locations in the western area of Carter County. Richey Rural will reach 65 locations with 167 miles of construction in northwest Dawson and western Richland Counties.

Future Years’ Plans

• 2026 – Circle Rural
• 2027 – Rock Springs & Jordan Rural
• 2028 – Winnett Rural, Melstone Rural, & South Wolf Point north of river

Project plans are tentative and may change based on permitting or right-of-way delays in any area. Crews will also be going back to locations in previously built exchanges to ensure the 100% build-out obligation is met.

Mid-Rivers’ own Engineering crew will be coming to landowners in these areas for right-of-way access to get you fiber services and Unlimited broadband. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us meet these buildout requirements. Our employees will contact landowners and make personal visits at your convenience, to discuss your preferences on proposed routes and other requests.
