My Internet Connection Is Slow
Internet & Wi-Fi
If you are experiencing slow internet speeds, please attempt to run a speed test using the Mid-Rivers Wi-Fi application. This app pulls speeds directly off of your router and can be helpful in determining whether the connection is slow due to equipment or line issues, or if it is slow due to Wi-Fi interference or signal strength issues. If you do not have the MR Wi-Fi application downloaded, please try to run a speed test from our server site.
The best sort of device to run a speed test on is a hard-wired device or a Wi-Fi device connected to the 5GHZ Wi-Fi network. These will give you the most accurate results and will be helpful in determining the cause of the slow speeds. If you receive a bad speed test please try unplugging your internet equipment from the power, then plugging it back in and attempting the speed test again. If you receive a bad test again, please reach out to us.
If you receive a good speed test but are still having issues with certain devices, it could possibly be due to some Wi-Fi interference, possible signal strength issues, or the device itself.
It is best to utilize the 5GHZ Wi-Fi network on your devices that you need a faster connection on.
The 2.4GHZ network can be full of congestion from surrounding networks, bluetooth devices, and even home appliances like your microwave, baby monitor, or garage door openers. It is best for smart home devices such as roomba vacuums, Alexa devices, and doorbell cameras.
