How Do I Install My New Cable Modem?
Internet & Wi-Fi
- Disconnect your current modem, being sure to unplug the modem, disconnect the ethernet cord and unscrew the coax cable.
- Remove the new modem & contents from the box.
- Connect the black coax cable that comes out of the wall to the coax port on the new modem. Fasten the end of the cable to the modem using the wrench provided in the box, turning until snug.
- Connect the new power cord to power inlet on the new modem. Plug the new modem’s power cord into a power outlet.
- Wait for the four lights on the modem to turn green. There should be no blinking lights. All lights should be solid green. Power cycle the router (the device your old modem was connected to) by unplugging power cord from the router.
- Connect the loose end of the ethernet cable from your router to the yellow “10G LAN” ethernet port on the modem.
- Reconnect the power cable to the router.
- Your installation is complete. Please note that it may take up to 5 minutes for your modem to sync and your Internet connection to return to normal.
- Please recycle or dispose of your old modem. It does not need to be returned to Mid-Rivers.
