Mid-Rivers Holds Annual Meeting in Headquarters Community

Members of Mid-Rivers Telephone Cooperative, Inc. gathered in Circle, Montana, on May 27th for the cooperative’s Annual Meeting. Those in attendance had the opportunity to learn about the cooperative’s financial performance and future, and scholarships were awarded to area students.

The meeting opened with a greeting from Nita Crocket, McCone County Treasurer, and an Invocation by Jacque VanDenburg of the First Lutheran Church in Circle. During the meeting, Trustees Dave Rice (District 4), Michael Conroy II (District 5), and Zachery Sverdrup (District 6) were all re-elected for three-year terms by unanimous ballot. In an organizational meeting following the Annual Meeting, Dave Rice was re-elected as President, Nick Schultz as Vice President, and Charlie Ahlgren as Secretary.

General Manager Michael Candelaria presented the Cooperative Update and Audit Report. Candelaria highlighted the cooperative’s unique ability to provide service to a vast region in an efficient and effective manner. He shared that the cooperative is in a strong financial position and well situated to remain strong into the future. Candelaria spoke on the Cooperative’s long-term fiber build out plan, where he shared maps of completed and planned construction projects as well as the timeline for the completion of the project.

There were 107 registered members in attendance. Ten of those won door prizes, including an Apple iPad, an Apple Watch, and $500 cash.

As the meeting neared its end, Mid-Rivers awarded nine additional $1,000 scholarships through a drawing of the eligible students in attendance, with a 100% award rate! Congratulations to the drawing scholarship recipients Austin Veverka (Richey), Dawsen Baltrusch (Sidney), Jacey Chromey (Lewistown), Kieryn Stanley (Circle), Klairah Snideman (Glendive), Melissa Higbee (Baker), Nathan Marley (Glendive), Rakayle Hier (Lambert), and Wiley Dempewolf (Lindsay).

The meeting was closed with a Benediction and those in attendance and in the area were invited to join the Cooperative for a meal provided by the Circle Country Market. The Cooperative continued the festivities at the Circle Cinema with a free matinee showing of “Little Rascals.”
