Here are some warning signs from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to recognize phishing scams and help protect your personal and financial information:

• Generic Greetings & Urgency: Beware of messages that use a vague greeting like "Dear Customer" and pressure you to act immediately.
• Suspicious Links & Attachments: Legitimate companies won’t ask you to click on links to update your payment or account details.
• Unsolicited Contact: If you receive an unexpected message from a bank, utility, or online service – even if it looks official – take a moment to verify it before acting.
• Verify Directly: When in doubt, contact the company directly using trusted contact details instead of the ones in the message.
